of EFT
Psychotherapy and Trauma Relief
I
have a thriving psychotherapy
practise in Palmerston North,
New Zealand, where I divide
my time between personal consultations,
and EFT trainings. New Zealand
is a small but beautiful country,
with a mild climate. It has
a clean green image, beautiful
scenery, and friendly people.
It is a wonderful place to
live and a great place for
an overseas holiday.

country: click beautiful
New Zealand.
New Zealand may be only a
dot on the underside of the
EFT world map, but EFT is alive
and well here. We have more
EFT Masters per capita than
any country in the world. USA
currently has 10 EFT Masters
for 270 million people, while
New Zealand has two EFT Masters
for a population of 4 million
people. That is an achievement
of which we are very proud.
I bring to my work with EFT
a wealth of previous experience.
I am a body-mind psychotherapist
with specialist skills in trauma
recovery. I am a certified
Hakomi Therapist, and a full
practising member of both the
NZ Association of Counsellors,
and NZ Association of Psychotherapists.
Alongside my trauma therapy
speciality, I have a passion
for creating change for children.
Thirty-five years’ experience
in community education, personal
growth work and facilitating
change, ensure a wide underststanding
of human beings, and provide
a solid base for my work with
people today. I can say this
without any doubt:
EFT is the most effective
method I have ever learned.
My clients make easy, effective,
effortless changes in their
lives more quickly than ever
before.
Every day is different
My work with individuals may
cover anything from a straightforward
one session consultation,
to a long term contract where
the goal is to achieve deep
physical, emotional and/or
behavioural change that lasts.
Integrating EFT
I have found it a challenge
to integrate EFT seamlessly,
effectively and ethically
into my previously conventional
psychotherapy model. I wanted
to take this EFT model that
had been developed and grounded
in American culture, and
create a fit with the cultural
and legislative requirements
in New Zealand. I am now
fully committed to using ‘NZ-friendly’ EFT.
By doing so, I have been
able to maintain my professional
affiliations and registrations,
and continue counselling
and trauma relief work for
institutions such as the
New Zealand Accident Compensation
Commission, NZ Victim Support,
and other Government welfare
agencies.
Professional Standards
A high priority for me is the
maintenance of professional
standards. I offer professional
supervision for new EFT practitioners.
I also customise each EFT
training to fit the culture
of the group with whom I
am working, whether it is
an in-house group, a hospital,
a group of counsellors, sports
and performance coaches,
or the local Parents’ Centre.

What my clients tell me about
their EFT experience
Counsellor:
Learning to use EFT has transformed
my life and my practice.
Previous problems are no
problem. The best thing is
that I feel so much lighter
and relaxed at the end of
my work day. I just don’t
carry around other people’s
problems after the session.
Even the most challenging
clients are getting better
more quickly than ever before.
Sceptical
client:
That ‘nudge, nudge wink
wink’ stuff… It
worked!
Thank
you Barbara…
… for teaching me to
tap. Yesterday, I was able
to show a Mother how to tap
with her child who still cries
every day when she is left
at school. This morning the
little girl went in to ths
school room quite happily.
Eight year old:
I just don’t get car
sick any more.
Father of a six year old:
(after one session of EFT to
address a recent sexual assault
trauma)
“Its amazing! We’ve
got our boy back”
Elderly gentleman with high
blood pressure:
I went back to my doctor this
morning and my blood pressure
was right back to normal. I
don’t have to start medication
after all.

Trauma Specialty
When we update
old theories with new information
about the human brain, then
add EFT to the mix, we can
free people from their trauma
more quickly and safely than
ever before.
I have twenty years’ of
experience working with traumatised
people. Some have been in crisis,
whilst others were suffering
from long term Post Traumatic
Stress Disorder. Ten years
ago I graduated from training
in the Hakomi™ model
of somatic sequencing. Somatic
sequencing is a mind-body model,
so when I first learned EFT
I already had a mindset that
made it easy to combine the
two. Gary Craig has said that
we are on the ground floor
of a healing high rise: this
is true for me, not only in
relation to EFT, but also for
trauma resolution. As researchers
continue to unlock the secrets
of the body-mind, we will target
the tapping process more accurately
still, and free people from
their distress more quickly
than ever before.
You will find the first article
of a trauma series on the Trauma
page in this site. This trauma
series is a work-in-progress.
If you have new insights or
experience I hope you will
share them, so that we can
learn from each other..
